Energy efficiency is getting to be a hot topic. The proposed $850 billion economic stimulus package includes billions of dollars worth of funding for energy efficiency. It’s about time that energy efficiency received so much attention. It is one of the best investments we can make in both the environment and the economy. There are over 110 million homes in the US, and most of these waste a great deal of energy with heat finding its way through walls, cracks, and under doors. This wasted energy wastes money, makes homes uncomfortable, and is bad for the environment, contributing to climate change. The size of this problem makes it a huge opportunity for energy efficiency auditing businesses such as Pro Energy Consultant franchises.

For a growing number of people changing our impact on the environment is not just about changing the things we buy, but changing how we live. All through our day a hundred little things we do add up to a surprisingly large impact on the world around us, an impact that we are seldom aware of. When people realize their impact, and are given simple tools to help them change, they are eager to do so. with OnlyGreen4Me

Although the broader economy has soured enough to curdle milk, the green economy remains loaded with opportunities. For all of the enormous growth of the $230 billion green economy, it has just scratched the surface and has huge growth ahead still. All other factors being equal, an overwhelming 83% of consumers indicate that they will choose green products (DoubleClick Performics). Among the wide range of opportunities for businesses to join the green economy, setting up an Eco-Store providing environmentally appeals to many entrepreneurs. OnlyGreen4Me provides the means for these entrepreneurs to get their own Eco-Store up and running quickly.

The cheapest and greenest source of power in the US may not be solar or wind, but the energy saved by being more efficient. Most homes in the US waste energy on lighting, heating, and cooling, as well as wasting water. In addition, our homes and their furnishings can emit unhealthful substances like formaldehyde, creating health risks. All of these inefficient and not-so-green homes are loaded with opportunities to do better.
Going Green as a Zola Goods Coordinator

The green business world has grown immensely, but is still just scratching the surface of the opportunities for entrepreneurs and consumers. While increasing numbers of entrepreneurs are drawn to starting a green business, many have limited time and money. I often get asked “What kind of green business can I start with very little money?” Consumers who want to go green can be held back by a lack of good information about what to do and where to start with green changes that make sense in their lives. Business models that can bridge these gaps for entrepreneurs and for consumers will help bring green to the masses. Zola Goods is working to do just this with coordinators who arrange parties bringing green products to people.

Roger Efird, President of Suntech America
Interviewed by Glenn Croston at Solar Power International 2008
Suntech is one of the world’s largest solar companies, with production capacity steadily growing. As part of Suntech’s move into the US market, industry veteran Roger Efird joined Suntech in 2006 as the President of Suntech America. Suntech has also opened a joint venture called Gemini Solar Development Company to focus on utility scale projects in the US, and is moving to greatly expand its share in the US market for photovoltaic (PV) solar. I had the opportunity to speak with Roger Efird at the Solar Power International 2008 conference where we talked about the prospects for solar in the US and the opportunities for solar entrepreneurs.
